Kitty Walsh has worked as an art historian with some of London’s top galleries and auction houses. She couples a connoisseurial approach, reading as much as possible from the objects themselves, with an up to date knowledge of art history methodologies.

Kitty specialises in European decorative arts from the renaissance onwards. One area of interest is early trade between Europe and Asia, which was the focus of her MA in the Dutch Golden Age at UCL. She has also worked extensively with exotica, curiosities and scientific ephemera from around the world.

She is fascinated by ‘low brow’ forms of art, which lead to a passion for folk art. Through Modern Folk she works with handcrafted pieces from around the world, with an emphasis on the rich folk traditions of Eastern Europe.
